Scrapping Deck Crewmember

I am very pleased to have been chosen as this month’s highlighted crew member! My journey into the world of rubber stamping, scrapbooking and mixed media art began over 5 1/2 years ago. In fact, I attended my first party, then promptly went into premature labor the following day and had our second son Thomas 7 weeks early! My husband told me I had just gotten way too excited about this new “hobby.” .

Thomas is now a healthy, rambunctious 5 ½ year old, and keeps up quite well with his 7 ½ year old brother, Joseph. They, along with my husband of almost 20 years, Darrin, my 85 year old grandmother who lives with us, and our 3 cats and 2 hermit crabs, surely keep my lift interesting and worthwhile!

I have always been interested in art – since I was a small child I have experimented with various forms of creativity – arts & crafts, sewing, watercolor painting, acrylic painting, clay, beading, flower pressing...but nothing could prepare me for the creative opportunities the future had in store! The day I discovered stamping and scrapping my artistic muse went into overdrive. Since that time I have been on an endless creative journey – a journey of discovery, learning, experimenting, teaching and sharing my ideas with others. I love to find new and imaginative ways to use products, and to create layouts and projects with texture and depth, often with an unexpected embellishment. I was fortunate enough to join the crew of SSReflections in November of 2004, and have had so much fun sharing my ideas with you all! I hope you have found my articles informative and have tried some of the ideas and techniques on your own artwork.

My latest creative accomplishment has been a line of rubber stamps I designed – they are now available at The Stamping Studio. The Fat Cats have been living in my mind for years, they are all modeled after actual kitties that have touched my life. I am so very happy that they found their way onto rubber and now can join you in your homes. There are several kitty sets, text sets, and a background stamp. There is nothing quite like the feeling of seeing someone else’s artwork from an image you created yourself – it is just wonderful! Here is a peak at the kitties – you can view the entire line at http://www.thestampingstudio.com.

In addition to my monthly SSReflections articles, I currently do design work for various manufacturers and on-line stores. I also co-teach 2 digital scrapbooking classes at http://www.LVSonline.com. My artwork has been published in a variety of magazines, newsletters, and on multiple websites. You can learn more about my artistic endeavors at my website – http://www.fatcatcreations.info . In my spare time I am a substitute teacher at the school the boys attend. I also enjoy gardening, reading, volunteering, cooking and baking, and most of all spending time with my family.

I am always open to feedback, ideas, or suggestions. Please feel free to contact me at Cdjb11@yahoo.com. I’d love to hear what you have to share! Thanks for taking the time to learn a little more about me. I wish you all calm seas, warm breezes, and smooth sailing!
