Fifth Anniversary for Club Posh!

On October 1, 2001, Charlene Maguire suggested and then committed to a stamping club in honor of Dee Gruenig. Five years later Char is still cheer-leading it, steering it, providing wisdom and activity for it. What is amazing is that neither Dee or her husband Warren have ever actually met “Char” in person. They live 3,000 miles apart.

75 rubber stampers originally came forward to help kick off the club and 6,000 stampers have chosen to request membership during these 5 years. The club got to be so large, active and cumbersome that the web master suggested that anyone who had not actively logged in with password for 2 years would be automatically dropped. This was done with an expectancy that few members would remain, as many join on-line clubs and then forget about them. To the amazement of many, 3,500 were left and now a few months later the count is back up to 4,400 active members.

The club is completely free, a pay back paid for by Posh Impressions to people who have done much for that company over a 27 year period. The club format is structured and orderly, but awash with every type and kind of activity you can imagine, from swaps to personal galleries, from “challenges such as creating a card in your least favorite color to providing intelligent and clear answers to any question a stamper could possibly ask. If someone doesn’t know an answer, they find out for the member.

Today it is too busy for Char to handle it alone. Four years ago Daylene Strickland, one of the best and most published stamp artists, came to assist the club’s management and then Darby Whittier and recently Christine Murphy joined them. Kathleen McCullough and Bev Toy help them with all kinds of original and enjoyable activities while web master Matt Cohen makes it all work electronically. In effect, it takes 7 people a good part of a day to keep it going.

To the Gruenigs the existence of the club with its huge membership and especially its growth with a 5 year longevity is simply amazing. They are often told there is nothing like it. But you can judge for yourself. www.ClubPosh.com
