Let's go to the movies!!

Stacie Guerra - Scrapping Deck Crewmember

Lights, camera, action! It is time for us to go to the movies. So -- sit back, relax, and enjoy the show! Ok, so we're not really going to the movies, but I am going to show you some ideas on how to incorporate the movies into all of your crafting projects.

Probably the most common movie layouts are of people going to the movies! This layout is of our family going to see Finding Nemo. One fun thing to put on the page is the ticket stub, which will also help you remember when you saw the movie!

You can also make a page by creating your own movie title. This is a layout I did right after my daughter (who will soon be six years old!) was born. I had to be induced twice, so I thought it was a fun idea to make the pages in a movie format. I created a filmstrip border for each page and listed the characters in my "movie." This was a fun way to document the events preceding my daughter's birth.

One of the easiest ways to make a movie page is to document your favorite movies. I thought about my favorite movies and came up with my top ten. I printed them in different fonts to make the titles stand out. I also wrote details on why each movie is a favorite of mine.

One fun gift idea is to make a movie-themed paint can. For my can, I painted it pink and wrapped fabric around it. I then placed movie-themed stickers all around the can. Next, I filled my can with microwave popcorn and a Blockbuster gift card. Another fun idea is to decorate a bigger can and put your lucky recipient's favorite movie in there as well. For more altered paint can ideas, see Cricket's April article.

Another fun idea is to have a movie night. Of course you will need an invitation for this fun event!! This is a super fast card that just needs a few stickers and a film stamp!

You can find movie themes, movie titles, or movie quotes all over the Internet. You can also find them as titles of many scrapbook pages. In this first layout, I used pictures of my daughter during an impromptu Sunday photo shoot. She had on her pink Easter dress so the title Pretty in Pink was a perfect title for the layout!

Another great title for some pictures I had was Curly Sue. I had used some really cute pictures of my daughter's curled hair. She was so proud of her curls!

Here are a few more movie titles as well as movie quotes to help you with your pages:
  • The Pajama Game
  • Ya Ya Sisterhood
  • Grumpy Old Men
  • The Odd Couple
  • It's a Wonderful Life
  • Love Story
  • Days of Thunder
  • Gone in 60 Seconds
  • Home Alone
  • The Love Bug
  • 12 Angry Men
  • All That Jazz
  • A Few Good Men
  • Miss Congeniality
  • My Best Friend's Wedding
  • Pretty Woman
  • Legally Blonde
  • Twins
  • "Show me the money!"
  • "Pink is my signature color"
  • "Make my day"

I hope you have enjoyed going to the movies with me. I also hope I have inspired you with new ideas for all of your crafting projects. My challenge to you is to grab some popcorn, pop in your favorite flick, and go to the movies!!
