It's a Family Thing!

Stacie Guerra - Scrapping Deck Crewmember

It's that time of year when families gather together and spend quality time being thankful for what they have been given...in a perfect world. Unfortunately we don't live in a perfect world. A more realistic phrase would be it's the time of year where families run around town trying to make it to every holiday event and to every store trying to find the perfect gifts.

There are plenty of activities for families to do together during this time of year. One of these activities is decorating the house for Christmas. Jordan loves to help us decorate the tree and house for Christmas. I love to see the joy on her face as she decorates.

She also loves to help her daddy hang the Christmas lights on the house. Anything she can do to help decorate, she loves to do!

Once the tree is up, Jordan can't wait to see presents appear under it! She likes to help wrap the presents for her friends, her grandparents, and anybody else she can give a present to.

Another thing families can do together is make homemade Christmas gifts. Last year we made cookie mixes in a jar for our family. I was so sick around Christmas that Dean and Jordan had to make all of the gifts. She had so much fun making the gifts with her daddy!

Shopping is one of our family's favorite activities! Whether we are picking out the perfect gift or just shopping for a bargain, it's something we love to do together!!

There are many more activities that families can do during this time, but there are also activities that can be enjoyed all year long. One of these activities is roller-skating. Jordan had so much fun skating for the first time. She wasn't real sure about it at first, but soon found she loved it!

Here is a list of other fun family activities that you can enjoy together:

  • Have a picnic in the park, backyard, or inside the house
  • Have game night
  • Make a family scrapbook
  • Work a puzzle together
  • Bake cookies and decorate them
  • Spend a day at the beach
  • Go bike riding together
  • Make homemade ice cream
  • Go swimming
  • Go bowling
  • Go to the library
  • Have a puppet show
  • Have a movie and popcorn night
  • Go to a sporting event
  • Have a snowball fight
  • Go on a camping trip
  • Take a family vacation
  • Go ice-skating
  • Go to yard sales
  • Go Christmas caroling
  • Pick out the family Christmas tree
Whatever the activity is that you do with your family, make sure you take the time to truly enjoy this time together. Even with the hustle and bustle of this time of year, remember to capture all of these memories on film. May you and your family be blessed this holiday season.

Holiday hugs,
