Digital Scrapbook Memories

Ramie Ahlstrom - Scrapping Deck Cruise Director

Every few days I discover a new digital scrapbooking "source" for kits, papers and goodies. Sometimes I happen upon websites online or get an email announcing a new designer and their website. This time, it happened by word of mouth! Our great Cap'n Dawn mentioned seeing this company, Digital Scrapbook Memories, at CHA this summer. So, naturally, I had to check them out!

I got my hot little hands on their Collection Two disk which contains six paper collections, including a total of 79 patterned and 21 textured papers, several pre-made pages to which you only need to add your photos and text, six alphabet sets as well as countless brads, eyelets, journaling blocks and circles, accents, borders, frames, ribbons, photo prongs and more! The kits and papers work on both PC and MAC computers and will work with any graphics program that can read .png format files. The possibilities with this collection are endless!

Now, when I saw the kits on the disk, I fell in love with them! The colors are fantastic-there is everything from bright pinks and greens to subtle tans, reds and oranges. There is also a wide variety of textures on the papers. The patterned papers have everything from stripes to circles, dots and ribbons. Also included on the disk are three grungy edges, as well as three grungy rectangles, perfect for adding that distressed look to your pages, frames, and journaling boxes!

If you've been following my scrapping style here at SS Reflections, you probably already know I'm very inclined to do simple pages. I like embellishments, but I don't have time to scrap every page with several layers of goodies! So, when I came across the pre-made pages on this disk, I was in heaven! All I added to this one was the text!

Most of their premade pages have spaces for several photos. This makes scrapping events where you can't resist snapping photos a breeze! Here's a layout I did using seven photos on one page. The premade page I used had openings for five photos, and I added two extra in the spaces left blank on the page! I added a title and the date in lieu of embellishments, since the layout already looked complete!

I love working with kits that contain coordinating papers and accents. Not only does it cut my scrapping time to almost nothing, but I can easily create pages that will look great next to each other in an album, whether or not the photos are of the same event! Here's a page created to go next to the Feria one above. The colors coordinate well, but are not exactly the same, and I used the same alphabet to make the pages flow together even better.

I found that I was most "attracted" to the bright, cheery colors of several of the kits on this disk. They coordinate well with most of the clothing in my daughter's wardrobe; making scrapping the gazillions of random snapshots we have a cinch. These two pages use papers that coordinated well with the colors of my daughter's shirt as well as the subject of the photos-some very large bubbles!

Here's another bright page created with some fun colored papers! My daughter's goofy expression coupled with her goofy glasses, and the wonderful colors of this kit made this a fun layout for me to create!

Another wonderful kit on the disk included a background that was covered in words that describe just about everyone in the world. The colors are awesome, and I enjoyed using the kit to make this layout with one enlarged photo of my daughter! Don’t be afraid to “cut apart” the backgrounds to make your own elements! I did that to create the ribbon that coordinates with this kit!

Be sure to check out the Showcase this month for an in depth look at Digital Scrapbook Memories! I'm sure that you'll enjoy their stuff as much as I have! Be sure to share your digital layouts with us for the Reader's Gallery. Just email a jpeg file of your layout, sized to 475 pixels wide, to robinwillis@ssreflections.com. We'd love to see what you've been creating!

Happy scrappin'!
