The Book of Me By Angie Pedersen

Book Review by Sharon Caldwell - Ship Librarian

The Book of MeHow often are you the focus of a layout in your family album? How often do you even appear in any of the photographs included in a layout? If you are like the average scrapper, the answer to these questions is not very often! All of us seem to fall into this trap. It’s time to hand the camera to another person and be included in a picture or (gasp) even the focus of a layout. Your descendents deserve to know the real you!

The Book of Me will give you helpful ideas and tips to start you on your journey of scrapbooking about yourself. The book is divided into chapters that will lead you from childhood all the way to actually journaling your feelings, thoughts, and ideas. Imagine how thrilled your great grandchildren will be to discover that they can really know you through these pages!

Included in each section, there are ideas for types of layouts, prompts to trigger journaling, quotes, photo opportunities, and memorabilia ideas. Each chapter also has a definition of that role in your life. All these roles in our life define the person we are. Even a child or spouse that sees us each day does not always know the secret hopes and dreams that help determine our course in life.

Some (okay most of us) of us are uncomfortable having photographs taken of ourselves. It seems almost vain to make ourselves the subject of a layout. We need to overcome this obstacle. Just as most of us want to know the hopes and dreams of our great grandparents, our great grandchildren will want to know the same things about us. This book will provide a valuable guide to making those pages so that these future relatives can know us. Join me in the resolve to have at least a few layouts focusing on who I really am!
