Reader's GallerySue Schneider - Reader's Gallery Coordinator, Scrapping Design Team 9/1/04SPAIN Get away and discover inspiration and muse in our Gallery as well as the ezine. We will share our designs with you and hope that you will share yours with us. Whether you are a first-time cruiser or a veteran sailor, the Gallery is your ultimate guide to sharing and inspiration. Just like a lighthouse guides ships through the fog, it is our hope that the ideas shared here will entice your senses and trigger the creative power within you. Each month, we will pick a theme. For September, our port is Spain. We provide a theme to challenge you and our designers and provide you with more adventures for creativity. Please send all gallery submissions to editor@ssreflections.com -- we prefer to stick to the theme of the month, but will consider any artwork! The gallery is changed twice a month. Next month we are going to England. Think cream, horses, state houses, royalty, palaces, lavender fields, flowers, beer, double decker bus, Big Ben, Tower Bridge, Guards, Royal Botanical Gardens, fish and chips. Some Facts about Spain - to get you in the mood from: CIA Publications Red 2000 Spain Widely known for Flamenco music and dance, bull-fights, fantastic beaches and lots of sunshine, Spain has to offer much more than that. It is - and has been for thousands of years - one of the cultural centers of Europe. It has beautiful cities and towns, offering really old monuments as well as futuristic architecture. Its various regions are all different one to each other, geographically, climatically and even in personality. It is a fascinating country to know and to learn about. Flamenco is a genuine Spanish art, and to be more exact an genuine Southern Spanish art. It exists in three forms: Cante, the song, Baile, the dance, and Guitarra, guitar playing. Gypsies are very often named as its fathers, and at least it can be taken for certain that they played an important part in its creation. But also the popular songs and dances of Andalusia have influenced early Flamenco considerably.
