Reader's GallerySue Schneider - Reader's Gallery Coordinator, Scrapping Design Team 11/1/04SCOTLAND Get away and discover inspiration and muse in our Gallery as well as the ezine. We will share our designs with you and hope that you will share yours with us. Whether you are a first-time cruiser or a veteran sailor, the Gallery is your ultimate guide to sharing and inspiration. Just like a lighthouse guides ships through the fog, it is our hope that the ideas shared here will entice your senses and trigger the creative power within you. Each month, we will pick a theme. For November, our port is Scotland. We provide a theme to challenge you and our designers and provide you with more adventures for creativity. Please send all gallery submissions to dyancross@ssreflections.com -- we prefer to stick to the theme of the month, but will consider any artwork! The gallery is changed twice a month. We will have a special photo gallery/contest in mid-November, so be sure to submit all your photographs on any subject by November 12th. The grandkids, beautiful nature shots, furbabies - all are welcome! Next month we are going to New York City. Think: Ice skating in Rockefeller Center, Broadway, Central Park, Times Square, Empire State Building, Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Taxis, Blue Birds, Sugar Maples, The Big Apple, and almost every ethnic food you can think of (my favorite is New York Cheesecake)! Some facts about Scotland - to get you in the mood from: Scotland.com Scotland comprises the northern part of the island of Great Britain, bordering to the south on England. Scotland consists of a mainland area plus several island groups, including the Shetlands, the Orkneys, and the Hebrides, divided into the Inner Hebrides and Outer Hebrides. Three main geographical and geological areas make up the mainland: from north to south, the generally mountainous Highlands, the low-lying Central Belt, and the hilly Southern Uplands. The majority of the Scottish population resides in the Central Belt, which contains three of the five main cities, and many large towns. Visit Scotland.com A nation's artistic and cultural life says much about its people. The vibrancy and creativity displayed across a wide range of artforms quickly dispels the myth of the dour, downbeat Scot. In successive generations, Scotland has produced writers, painters, sculptors, musicians, composers and dancers whose talents have received both national and international acclaim. Historic Scotland Monuments continue through the centuries as visible markers to the passage of time. On the mainland there are Roman forts and medieval castles, abbeys and cathedrals, and later monuments to Scotland's industrial heritage. Among the most recent scheduled monuments are pillboxes built during the Second World War. Scottish Enterprise From majestic glens and tranquil lochs to exciting concerts and pulsing city nightlife, Scotland offers an unrivalled range of things to see and do. For the more energetic there are exceptional leisure facilities, including the some of the world's greatest golf courses, stunning mountain walks and thrilling watersports centres. If you simply want to relax, you can enjoy countless historic castles, monuments and museums, or perhaps take a relaxing canal trip across the country on either the Caledonian or Forth & Clyde Canal. An áit a bhfuil do chroí is ann a thabharfas do chosa thú. "Your feet will bring you to where your heart is."
