Digi-Crafting...Using Digital Scrapbooking Elements to Create Paper Crafts!Ramie Ahlstrom - Managing EditorSince my first attempts with scrapbooking, I’ve been cross-using my supplies. I started with using my computer to print journaling and titles for my paper pages. Then I started using my computer to create the pages, and now I’ve started using digital elements to create paper craft projects! And my online friends are only helping my cause by creating fantastic templates that make creating these projects a snap! I’ve only tried two so far, both designed by Melinda Staley (aka mmbstaley) at RAKscraps. Awhile ago, I downloaded a template kit to make a mini matchbook shaped album. I hadn’t used it, but kept seeing it on my hard drive. Last week, I got a chat announcement stating that Melinda and another gal, Irene, would be hosting a chat to make a CD Case Calendar. I couldn’t pass it up, so I spent an hour chatting with people all over the world and learned how to make digital pages to fit in a CD case! I did a few pages, and was inspired to go back to the matchbook kit also! I’ve since completed both projects, and thought I’d share a sample of them here! It’s amazing how versatile scrapbooking supplies can be...whether paper or digital! Here’s a few pages from the CD Case Calendar I created. I haven’t gotten the pages into a CD case yet, but eventually they will end up in a CD case to put on my desk, and one for my husband’s desk too! (Melinda and Irene created all the templates and the calendars; I just put my photos and the digital elements of my choice in place, and printed!)
And here’s the mini matchbook album I created. I sent this to my husband as part of his Christmas gift package. He’s currently serving overseas, so I hope that having a glimpse at the kids through the year warms his heart a bit. (Melinda created the template for this also...I just added my photos and the digital elements of my choice, and then printed and assembled it!)
A BIG thanks to Melinda and Irene for awesome templates!! I had a fantastic time using them, and they were easy as pie! Be sure to show us what you’ve created using templates you’ve found online! Share them in our Photo Gallery! Happy Digi-crafting!
