Questions and Answers

Welcome to another adventure with us on the SSR. We are traveling this month to Venezuela and Trinidad. I hope you have discovered many ideas to inspire you this month. For our next adventure we are heading to Central America. We look forward to seeing you there.

I would like to take this time to personally invite each of you to join us at our new message board forum at Message Board as we are having a wonderful time there. Some of the discussion items include all aspects of Stamping, Scrapping, Digital, Fonts, and everything that you see here and then some. Our designers are on hand to answer your questions and get to know you.

Dear Marlis:

Can you tell me the best inkpad to use for embossing? Sandra

Dear Sandra:

The best inkpad for embossing is going to be a pigment inkpad. The reason for this is that pigment ink is slower to dry, to give you extra time to get that embossing powder on it and then you can heat.

Dear Marlis:

I've seen the term ATC on the message boards, but I don't know what it means, can you help? Amanda

Dear Sandra:

ATC is the abbreviation for Art Trading Cards. They are small cards (2 ½ x 3 ½ inches), think baseball cards that are decorated however you would like. Cindy had a great article on them in June 04 and Snow had one in Oct 04.

Here is a spring ATC to get you started.

Below are some tips from fellow Design Team members and Readers:

  • Need to use Beads for your art? I glue them on with Ranger's Glossy Accents. It glues them on like iron and the Glossy Accents is clear in color and you get a glitter too...Joe Nathan

  • Use the noodle cutting side of your pasta machine to cut paper. You can use the resulting strips for borders, paper weaving and quilling. Most machines come with two widths--thin spaghetti and linguine. Jane in San Diego

  • Looking for an inexpensive way to clean your stamps? I use a commercial stamp cleaner but then run the stamps over a paint edger. You know the white edgers, they usually come three in a package for a couple of dollars - even cheaper at the dollar store. The bristles get in all the little nooks and crannies of the stamps. They will be cleaned beautifully. Josie
