The Best Christmas Gifts Under $100

by Linda Quinones

It is time to start dropping those hints for your special Christmas gifts. I have two great ideas for under $100 that will make any scrapper or stamper happy.

Handy storage is always a problem for me. I have various tins and boxes for my scrappy stuff. Nothing is ever close. Things have changed with the Scrappin’ Spin Tool Station.

The round bucket is super sturdy. I loaded it up with pens, pencils, punches, paint and anything else I could find. My loads were unbalanced and off center, yet the “lazy susan” spinning bottom twirled around very smoothly. The deep bucket interior held my long rulers, bulky equipment and portable cutting supplies with no difficulty.

The cover can be removed and wiped clean. No more worries about ruining your storage and having to buy another one! I spent less than a minute to remove or replace the cover and did not have to struggle at all.

The Scrappin’ Spin has 28 gusseted pockets with sturdy bottoms and clear sides. In fact my commonly used tools can not even fill up the pockets available to me! I also love the various sizes of strong elastic “bands” that keep small objects like tweezers and markers from slipping out and falling on the floor.

I have so much room in my scrapping area; I thought the Scrappin’ Spin could be used in other areas of my home. How about the baby’s room? Powder, diapers ointments, binkies and medical supplies could all be kept out of harm’s way and still be handy for use. Kids could use it to store those annoying tiny pieces like cars, dolls and hair décor. Teens could use it for makeup or jewelry. Even Dad can use it in the garage for tools and other fix-it things.

The Scrappin’ Spin comes in three colors based in pink, light blue and purple. BUT here is some special “poop” for you…they will be adding new colors that will compliment a more sophisticated décor very soon! Perfect for the kitchen or bath, the Scrappin’ Spin will simplify organization in your life.

The Scrappin’ Spin Tool Station is available at your local scrapbook store for less than $45. There is also a junior spin offered and a great tote is coming to a store near you in January 2007.

My second pick for you is the Purple Cows 2 in 1 Combo Trimmer. If you are tired of buying trimmers that never cut straight or cannot handle more than three sheets of paper, this is the trimmer for you!

The Combo Trimmer has guillotine and rotary cutter (straight, perforated and deco blades included) that separate for easy storage and transport. The metal (easy clean) cutting area is marked with rulers and photo dimensions to help size everything just so.

This German designed (quality, quality, quality) trimmer has a guillotine “blade” that will easily cut 12” paper. Since the paper is sheared rather than cut, the blade will never be dull. There is a safety guide to keep paper in place so there is no slippage when cutting. Moms, this is for you…the blade will not cut little fingers!!!!

Rotary trimmers are a challenge for me because I always cut crooked. With the Purple Cows’ rotary, the paper is held down by a special “locking” system to keep it from twisting. Thank you Purple Cows! The large trimming handle is easy to use and great for those with arthritis.

If all that was not enough, the 2 in 1 combo comes apart! Yep, the trimmer separates from the guillotine for easy transport or storage. It snaps on and off with slight pressure in opposite directions.

I dropped and kicked the trimmer on my kitchen floor (more than once) to see if it stayed together and undamaged. No problems at all! This trimmer will last longer than anything you have ever had.

Linda’s inside poop: There are two other Purple Cows products I would like you to know about. They have a 13” laminator that rocks! AND, the release of the “Cow Pie,” a rotary cutter, will happen after the first of the year.

The Purple Cows 2 in 1 Combo retails for less than $75. For that price, you can get with other parents at school and present the teacher with a wonderful Christmas or appreciation gift. You deserve one, too, so tell your “elves” it is time to go shopping at your local scrapbook store for this great product.

To all of you, have a very happy Holiday Season. Stay safe and don’t eat too much!
Best wishes for a wonderful New Year!

Linda
