FUN WITH PHOTOS

I love playing with photos! Digital cameras have given us options that were once only available to professionals and those amateurs with extensive darkroom equipment. Now anyone can “play.”
Scrapbooking is one way of playing with photos, and we have been doing that long before digital cameras were so popular. Then, for me at least, came digital scrapbooking. It was quite awhile before I began to manipulate my photos though. Lighter, darker, brighten, sharpen…it all helped.
The other day I started using Photo ELF. Whoa! Now here was a whole new ballgame. I could still brighten, darken, and all the other usual ways of enhancing a photo, but far more easily then I had been doing that before. Once I found the “masks” part of the program I was hooked.
I have done a few scrapbook pages that mimic magazine covers. Each one took forever! I actually went out and bought a couple of fishing magazines so I could mimic the covers. Finding the exact font for the title, trying to use the same cover format, creating those teasers of what is inside…it all took a lot of time. AHA! With PhotoELF, it was all right there and took only a couple of minutes.

The program allowed me to add different masks and some of my own writing to the cover. There are covers for all kinds of sports and glamour magazines. Then I tried my hand at creating my own cover using Photo ELF, now that I knew the methods.

I downloaded even more masks from their site on the internet. Then I found some of my favorite photos and played some more.

This is almost addictive!
How about custom Christmas, birthday and post cards? All were made using masks in Photo ELF.

There are wonderful, easy to follow directions for making and saving your own masks. The possibilities are endless.
Of course there is much, much more than masks, but once I landed here I was hooked.
