Layered Digital Sketches

I’m so thrilled that everyone is having fun using my sketches, I switched things up a bit this month but if you are reading my column for the first time then you will want to catch up and read my tutorial to learn how to use layered digital sketches.
This month we are using our clipping masks to create some embellishments! I have two different flower templates here for you to use and a few different layout examples. Once you’ve created your flower embellishment, you can do whatever you want with it! The templates are for 12x12 flowers but you can scale them by selecting all of the layers, hitting Ctrl-T (for transform) and dragging one of the corners while holding the shift key.
Here’s the first flower template; it even comes with a stitched center that I made (my first time trying to make real stitches, what do you think?). You can change the color of the stitches using the clipping mask as well! Here’s a quick sketch using the flower template, the template, and then my version of the sketch.
And here is the other template; I didn’t do a sketch for this one but you can see how I used it here. I used some tied ribbon as the stem and leaves. What else can you think of to use? Maybe some stitches? Experiment!
