Overview
I am organized and very detail oriented. Problem solving is a strong gift. One of my strongest strengths is encouraging and motivating people to get the required work done and as I have 30 designers to keep on track with my own small business, these are very important qualities! I’ve worked in the customer service industry through my own business and other positions for many years.

Professional Experience
August 2003 – Present: S.S. Reflections Online Magazine;
S.S. Reflections (http://www.ssreflections.com) is a virtual vintage era cruise ship that travels around the world to different ports each month. The crew of 30 designers teach scrapbooking and rubberstamping techniques, including digital photography, digital scrapbooking and altered arts, and provide product reviews to our readers. We average between 450,000 – 800,000 page requests per month.

As Owner, I handle human resources and personnel management, and do all the company bookeeping. As Publisher, I do the article placement and organization on the magazine, to include the HTML coding for each article, and the ad sales and placement within each issue. I organize monthly challenge sponsorships including product donations for the designers from companies within the industry. I plan the ships port calls and oversee the editorial schedule for the crew. In addition, I occassionally teach classes at local craft events and attend trade shows.

February 2007 – Present: Freelance Writer
Southern Lakes Newspapers; Burlington, Wisconsin
The Spirit of Geneva Lakes Magazine; Twin Lakes, Wisconsin
I have worked as a freelance journalist writing articles covering things such as City Council Meetings, School Board Meetings and human-interest stories, for the East Troy News and the Elkhorn Independent. Some of my stories have been printed in neighboring community papers. I have also been a featured journalist for The Spirit of Geneva Lakes Magazine, writing reviews and profiles about local businesses.

September 2006 – April 2007: Administrative Assistant
Teronomy Builders, Inc.;
East Troy, Wisconsin
I was responsible for greeting visitors, answering telephones and providing support to Property Managers. I coordinated projects with contractors, prepared for production meetings, handled maintenance scheduling for many pieces of construction equipment and had various human resources responsibilities.

July 2006 – August 2006 & July 2007: Event Coordinator & Customer Service Representative
Country Thunder USA;
Twin Lakes, Wisconsin
My responsibilities included coordinating air and ground transportation and organizing lodging and accommodations for guests, including bands performing at the events. I helped with the VIP Registration and gave backstage tours to our VIP Sponsors. I looked after their needs during the events and ran errands as needed. I assisted with marketing for the events, and helped with backstage security as needed. I reported directly to the General Manager and Owner, and assisted them as needed.

September 2005 – September 2006: Customer Service Representative
Four Lakes Athletic Club;
Elkhorn, Wisconsin
I processed applications for new memberships and day passes, greeted members and guests as they entered the club, and took reservations for day care and special events. I organized the tennis lesson schedule and helped with tennis tournaments. I assisted with club laundry, and the coffee and snack bar as needed. On occasion, I filled in for the personal trainers if needed. I answered the phones, organized the pro shop and kept the facilities and locker rooms tidy.

March 2001 – November 2003: Supervisor & Independent Demonstrator
Stampin’ Up!;
Lake Geneva, Wisconsin
As a Stampin’ Up demonstrator, I taught various rubberstamping, cardmaking and scrapbooking classes in peoples homes in southeast Wisconsin and northern Illinois. I organized stamp camps for my customers and managed a two tier downline of nine demonstrators. I trained my downline in my home and via online classes and provided them with phone support when needed.

March 2001 – May 2003: Editorial Designer; scrapbooking.com and
Design Team Coordinator & Assistant Managing Editor; rubberstampingideas.com
A-Z Media, Inc.,
Carlsbad, California
As an editorial designer I wrote an article about rubberstamping techniques and provided designs to support my feature each month. I also participated in the product challenges. When A-Z Media created a new online magazine called rubberstampingideas.com, I became the design team coordinator for this new venture. In this capacity, I helped hire and train the initial design team. I was also the assistant to the Managing Editor and was responsible for organizing the editorial schedule and processing the related paperwork. I stepped in as needed to fulfill the Managing Editor duties. I attended several of the major trade shows as well as consumer scrapbooking conventions in the Midwest, meeting and greeting readers.

At this small college textbook publishing company, I started as the Office Manager and liaison between College Professors and the Publisher while eventually moving into the position of Production Manager for our textbooks. My finest hour was when I implemented a brand new 648-page arithmetic book and supervised every detail to the first printing. I oversaw the production of each page in this book which was the first textbook done on an IBM PC desktop publishing system.
