S.S. Reflections Scrapping and StampingFrom the Helm - Notes from your Captain

From the Helm

We have had a surprisingly calm cruise from Kenya to Argentina gliding through the Indian Ocean to the South Atlantic Ocean! It was fun waving to the people of the Falkland Islands as we passed through to Buenos Aires and I hope you are able to take a day trip to visit the islands while we are in port! Argentina is a beautiful country known as the "Land of Silver" and possesses a very diverse geography. It is home to some of the world's tallest mountains and impressive waterfalls, and is well known for its wide-open pampas and ancient forests. Buenos Aires is one of the most elegant and busy cities and is in some way the essence of the variety of the Argentinean. Argentina possesses some of the world's tallest mountains, expansive deserts, and impressive waterfalls and is the eighth largest country in the world! I think that Buenos Aires is a perfect spot for S.S. Reflections to celebrate our Second Anniversary! Well, we actually celebrated our Anniversary at sea but we have to pull into port to clean up all the streamers and balloons and the ticker tape that has been thrown all over the ship!

Last month I challenged you to scrap or stamp lift one of the designs featured in our pages. So, did you? Did you send it to Robin for our Reader's Gallery? Be sure to let us know which design you are copying and who created the original! This has the makings of a fun contest don't you think? We've not had a contest in a while so please tell me your thoughts on this!

This has been a record breaking year for hurricane disasters and this past month has been just as terrifying. Mexico and Florida have been hit hard by Wilma and Beta just slammed into Nicaragua so I'd like to encourage you to continue to give. You can contact the American Red Cross and donate online or you can call 1-800-HELP NOW, or contact the Salvation Army to donate online, or you can call 1-800-253-1868. I can't even imagine living in such devastation and my prayers are with everyone who has been effected by these unimaginable catastrophes. Donations have reached a whole new record which is so awesome! It's so nice to know that so many people are helping this way!

Two days of intensive care that includes workshops, make 'n takes and cropping events! Dates are November 3-6 at Pheasant Run in St. Charles, Illinois! We are going to have so much fun and chances are I will even get to scrapbook during the crops! Maybe we should place some bets on this??? I'm really looking forward to getting away from the norm and spending time with some awesome scrappers! The resort is gorgeous and I'm even going to look into a spa treatment!

If you are joining us for the very first time, let me explain what S.S. Reflections is. We are a completely FREE online magazine with a truly unique concept. SSR is a virtual cruise ship from the Golden Era here to entertain you as we visit a new country/port each month. We have an amazing crew who create designs and share ideas with you each month from various areas of the ship. Our fly-out menu bar, to the left, can take you anywhere on the ship that you would like to be. It will guide you through each deck on this magnificent ship! If you'd like to read each and every feature, at the bottom of each page is a blue arrow and a link to click which will take you to the next page to read. We also have Intro Pages for each deck. On these pages are ship's wheels with our crewmember's pictures inside - you can click on the wheel and read a short, fun bio for each designer. You can also click on the name of their room on the ship and it will take you directly to their article, or you can email each crewmember directly by clicking on their name! Please write to us and be sure to let us know what you love about SSR!

The Caption Contest has been so much fun on the Ezine Yahoo! Group! We can hardly wait to see each new entry. The featured stamp used in each month's article is also that months prize. The November caption contest is sponsored by Hearts In Touch! Thank you Frances!

The card on the right is from the October Caption Contest sponsored by Putting on the Ritz. The Ezine Yahoo Group members voted for their favorite caption and the winner is....

"Now that I have your undivided attention...."

from Donna Urban of Edmonton AB, Canada!

For detailed instructions and our current contest just click on the card. We are having so much fun with this contest on the Ezine Yahoo! Group, I hope you join us!
