Ramie Ahlstrom - Digital Deck Designer

As I’m sure you know by now, S.S. Reflections is celebrating its 5th birthday this month! It’s been an AWESOME journey around the world (literally, for me, too!). There’ve been lots of changes in my life over these 5 years. I’ve lived in 3 different houses, in 2 different countries. And I’ve flown on 5 round trip international flights, too! I’ve been a mom for 5 years now, and I am thoroughly loving every minute of it (although, it is the hardest of the 5 jobs I’ve ever had)!

Creatively, I’ve probably done close to 500 scrapbook pages, between paper pages and digital pages. I’ve been a crafting fool, I guess you’d say (although I still never think I’ll catch up—probably cuz I take 5-10 pics a day usually!). 5 years ago, I was strictly a paper scrapper…I also made cards on occasion, but now I’ve crossed over to the dark side, and I do paper scrapping, cardmaking, digital scrapping and hybrid scrapping/project making. This year, I’m determined to make gifts for all our gift giving purposes (minus the 5 toys each kid wants…).

So far, I’ve got 5 projects completed, and I’ve still got 85 days before I need to mail stuff (since we live about 5 states away from the majority of our family). I think I’m off to a good start (and hopefully won’t lose any momentum and end up with only 5 days to spare).

Project #1 is a covered tissue box that will be a gift for my 5-yr-old’s kindergarten teacher! I used 5 different colors of cardstock and paired them with some wonderful school themed patterned papers to decorate 5 sides of a tissue box holder (the 6th side is the bottom). Here’re 5 pics of the 5 sides!

Project #2 isn’t really a holiday gift, but will hang in our house this holiday season to show off the holiday cards we receive (which I hope will amount to more than 5). The front of the card holder has 5 chipboard letters on it, each held on with 5 small glue dots!

Project #3 was inspired by some wonderful images donated to the crew from Altered by Design. The bright, vivid images became the focus of some hybrid cards that will be given away as a set. The backgrounds and frames are printed digital scrapbooking elements, layered with the collage images from Altered by Design. Here’re 5 pics of the cards…one as a set, and then individual pieces, too!

Project #4 is another hybrid one. This one is a simple covered mini composition notebook. The cover is a digital scrapbooking background printed onto white cardstock. I added some paper scrapping embellishments to finish it off, and I plan to make four more, for a total of 5 to give as gifts!

Project #5 is another hybrid covered notebook. This one was a little more complicated, but not too bad. The brown paper is a digital image that I printed, layered with a matted collage image from Altered by Design, and then finished off with some ribbon and alpha stickers. The hardest part was punching little holes along the side of the paper and getting it lined up right with the spirals on the notebook.

These cards are just some random extras that I made while working on the above projects. They all use more of the images from Altered by Design and were put together using pieces from my scraps folders.

Now, it’s off to work on some more projects. Our gift list includes about 30 people this year, and except for the kids under 5, I’m planning to give them all something homemade! I guess I have about 25 things left to make! I hope that you’ll share your holiday gift ideas with us here at S.S. Reflections. Upload them to the SSR Reader's Gallery!

Happy Scrappin!
