S.S. Reflections Scrapping and StampingFrom the Helm - Notes from your Captain

Welcome to India!

Dawn Heath - Publisher

We have moored off the beautiful city of Mumbai (Bombay, the City of Dreams) and will tour part of India on the Deccan Odessey (http://www.iyp.com/abouttrain.htm) in the luxury we have come to expect as we continue our cruise around the world. India is rich in color, tradition, industry and architecture, lest we forget the food! There is so much to see in India from their jungles to their white sand beaches on the west coast. The temples are a sight to behold standing in all of their grandeur.

Our stamping crew has outdone themselves in searching for beautiful rubber stamps to show the different facets of India. I am sure you will enjoy the colors and designs they have created for you this month. Our scrapping crew has worked very hard to bring you the best designs for you to CASE. We want to take this opportunity to thank you for all the emails of support and encouragement in our work. You are our inspiration and we want to thank you for making our ezine such a huge success.

This month we have Jolleen Hansen and Amanda McLaws, the sisters behind Deluxe Designs as our Celebrity Headliners. I have a confession to make; we loved the products that Jolleen and Amanda have launched at HIA that we didn’t want to leave their booth!!! They offer products for both the stamper and the scrapper (scramper... there’s that word again!).

As you know, we offer the unique feature of encouraging our celebrity headliners to write their own articles for our ezine. We feel that there isn’t anyone who can tell us about their own products and company with as much passion and information than themselves. With this idea in mind, we have created a new feature for the ezine for a new product review written by the company for you. While we were at HIA we were overwhelmed by all the wonderful new products by new companies so we thought this was the best way to tell you all about it, one month at a time! For our first new product feature, LuAnn Hale owner of, Buzz ‘n Magic Powdered Chalk! This is such a great chalk and there was quite a buzz at HIA about it!!

We had the privilege to spend time with Thena. Thena is known in the scrapping world as a special poet and she write poems for special occasions. Her first book is being released this spring called “Where’s Thena” and you will hear about it here in our Ship’s Library! Thena has given us a wonderful gift of a poem written just for our adventure to India!!

The S.S. Reflections is sailing to India
And just so their friends know....
They can't turn back for the course is set
And they are all ready to go.

Few countries are so ancient
As India, enhanced in a long history
With cultures so rich in diversity.
It will surely be a wonderful sight to see.

With its festival, rituals and costumes
And its history, which is unparalleled
Our crew will be delighted
And this visit will serve them well.

With food as diverse as its culture
And spices subtly blended with skill
The crew will surely be impressed
And you and I as well!

What will the crew share with us
From this country so ancient and rich
What wonderful art and culture
Our lives and art will enrich?

Well, let's go along with the crew
On this virtual tour and see
What wonderful and special sights we find
It's educational and hey, it's free!!

Thena

Thank you Thena!

Aileen, of Outside the Margins, supplied the Designer Challenge for March. (www.outsidethemargins.com/) Our crew had a ton of fun playing with Aileen’s stamps as well as the large puzzle pieces!

Please be sure to visit our advertisers and let them know we sent you! You can find their banner ads on the different pages in the ezine at the bottom of the articles or you can find an alphabetical listing on our Making Waves page! Let them know how special they are because without them, we wouldn’t have S.S. Reflections. I would also like to take a moment to thank each of you on the ezine yahoo group who sent private emails and posted your support, prayers and encouragement to the list during my son’s recent illness. I’m very relieved to report that he is doing great! Your prayers were very much appreciated during such a stressful time.

Remember to submit your designs for the Reader’s Gallery to editor@ssreflections.com. Just let us know your name and where you live when you send them in! Next month we are heading to Egypt, the land of the Pharaohs...

I have one last thing I’d like to tell you about. We have offered to help The Vintage Shoppe in their efforts to raise funds to buy 3 Breast Cancer Education Tools. I lost my Aunt Jo to Breast Cancer 5 years ago. I feel that education is the best weapon we have against this horrible disease. Here is the link for the information on this program. http://www.ourcreativecompanion.com/index.php?showtopic=10393 I wanted to pass this on to you, as a whole, we can be a powerful force in this fight!

With warmest regards,

Cap’n Dawn
