Welcome to Egypt!Dawn Heath - Publisher Welcome aboard the April 2004 issue of S.S. Reflections!! We are visiting Egypt this month in our virtual journey around the world. Back home in the United States, spring is just beginning to bloom and show us the wonderful colors of summer! Egypt is known for its pyramids, pharaohs, architecture and artifacts. The history of Egypt is written in the Bible and the History Channel and Discovery Channel are a huge resource for information! The Greek historian Herodotus called Egypt, "The Gift of the Nile," and along that life-giving river, the ancient Egyptians built their amazing civilization, one they ruled for three millennia. Our crew has gone to extraordinary lengths to provide you with some truly beautiful designs this month. I hope you enjoy this wonderful issue of S.S. Reflections.
Lenna Andews Foster is our Celebrity Headliner this month, Lenna is a full time teacher/designer and is teaching us how to create her version of the Accordian Tunnel Book, an accordion book with Windows!! I’m sure this is a project that every stamper and scrapper (scramper) can do!
In our continuing efforts to bring you’re the best, we have invited Ariden Creations to be in our VIP Lounge this month. I’m sure that what Deanna has to share with you will really make you think! Ariden Creations has created a line of scrapbook embellishments made from wood! Yes, you read that right…wood! You’ll have to go and read what Deanna has to share; it will bring on a whole new thought process to your scrapping!
I have so many wonderful things to tell you about, with this issue of S.S. Reflections we have brought on board new designers and column ideas in our continuous effort to provide you with the best. Also, Diane Miller and I have been working to bring our sites together to be the largest resource of information to the Internet crafter! As of May 1 you will be able to access S.S. Reflections, www.rubberstampsclub.com, www.rubberstampinglinks.com, www.rubberstampsonsale.com and www.scrapbookingfocus.com all from one site! We will continue to offer you ideas, techniques, samples, product reviews and even a new message board at www.scrampingcentral.com! Please welcome our new Ship’s Engineer, Dean Guerra (Engineering Room). Dean will be writing a column each month on organizing our supplies. One month he will show you how to build your own supplies and the next will be a product review on one of the latest products in the industry. One thing we discovered at HIA is that there are some awesome new products out there to help keep us neat and clean... gasp! This month Dean is providing directions to build your own ribbon storage!
We also have another brand new feature on board. Please welcome our new Teen writer, Megan Greenway (Megan’s Youth Theatre)! Megan is a teenager and the daughter of our Editor, Marlis! Megan will write on a topic each month aimed towards the younger crafter!
Sam Cousins has joined our Scrapping Crew with a new column, Sam’s Poop Deck! Sam has written a review on The Designer’s Library by Lana. We are very excited to have Sam on board and I know she will be an inspiration to all of us!
We have also filled our Stamping Crew with 3 new designers! Wendy Pettifer has joined Robin and together they are writing our Altered Books feature each month for the Altered Stateroom! You are going to love what this partnership has created!
Elizabeth McAndrew has joined our ranks with Elizabeth’s Safari Grille! Elizabeth will also write about the different countries that we are visiting each month. I just know you will enjoy Elizabeth’s insight and research each month!
I would also like to introduce to you Maria Garcia! Maria does beautiful collages and is a wonderful addition to our crew with Maria’s Stamping Lounge! Please join me in welcoming Maria! We are listening to your ideas and as you can see, we are working very hard to fulfill all your requests!
Our Designer’s Challenge this month is the Egypt Kit from Club Scrap! I can tell you that our crew has had a wonderful time creating with this kit! You’ll notice that some of the crew just couldn’t stop with just one design!! The papers that Club Scrap creates for their kits are gorgeous and a lot of fun to work with.
I hope that you enjoy our journey to Egypt. Next month we are going to be visiting South Africa so please submit your designs for our Reader’s Gallery. I’m inspired by all the designs that you are submitting! Thank you for sharing your ideas with us!
